Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies continues the sinister mythology of the Djinn — an ancient, demonic wish-granting creature whose purpose is to open a gateway allowing his race to conquer the world. Unlike friendly or playful genies in folklore, this Djinn grants wishes in the most literal, cruel, and horrifying ways possible.
The movie opens with a violent art museum robbery, carried out by a group of thieves including Morgana, our main protagonist. During the robbery, a stray bullet shatters an ancient Persian statue containing the Bloodstone, which has trapped the Djinn for centuries. Once the stone is cracked, the Djinn materializes and begins his deadly work immediately. Anyone who makes a wish — even offhandedly — pays the ultimate price.
The Djinn is arrested after the robbery and sent to prison in human form. This becomes one of the most memorable and twisted segments of the film. Inside the prison, surrounded by violent criminals, the Djinn collects souls by coercing inmates into wishing for things they desire: freedom, strength, vengeance, or protection. Every wish ends in gruesome irony. One inmate wishes to walk through the bars of his cell; the Djinn makes it happen — but the man is crushed and mangled as his body is forced through the narrow gaps. Another asks to “see his lawyer,” and the Djinn twists it by magically attaching the lawyer to the man — literally.
Meanwhile, Morgana begins experiencing terrifying visions and guilt over her role in freeing the Djinn. She learns that the only way to stop him is by invoking true repentance, cleansing herself spiritually, and finding Father Gregory, a priest with whom she has an emotional history. Gregory becomes her reluctant ally as she struggles with questions of morality, faith, and redemption.
As the Djinn gathers more souls, he becomes closer to achieving his ultimate goal: the Third Wish, which must be given by Morgana. This final wish will trigger the release of his entire demonic race. To pressure her, he manipulates events globally and threatens everything she cares about.
The film reaches its climax at a Russian-style mob casino, where the Djinn unleashes hellish chaos. Gamblers and gangsters make foolish wishes driven by greed, lust, and desperation — and the Djinn corrupts every one of them. The scene becomes a massacre of monstrous transformations and violent irony.
Morgana eventually faces the Djinn head-on. Remembering the one loophole left in myth, she offers her final wish: she wishes that the museum robbery had never happened, meaning the Djinn would never have been released. This clever paradox collapses the entire chain of events. With the timeline reset, the Djinn is sealed once more inside the statue, trapped for eternity — or at least until someone else breaks it.
